Potomac U13 girls had over 60 kids at tryouts. I guess them joining CCL has been a big draw for players.

Good for them -nice to know that lots of kids are playing soccer. I don't know much specifically about Potomac at that age group but I wouldn't jump up that ladder of inference too quickly. It may be one of many factors but I'd be surprised if too many parents know or care about the league. If memory serves me correctly, isn't U13 the age where 1) roster sizes expand so suddenly there is a spot for everyone; 2) teams advertise more for tryouts because they need players; 3) classic teams tend to fragment as the better kids feel that they are ready for travel soccer or coaches have encouraged them to move on. Or it may be good coach (at that age) that is attracting players.
How many kids did the U13s have for tryouts last year? Was it measurably different?

On a similar note, I know at least one Potomac girls coach is emailing players on other teams to invite them to tryouts. This is now possible because anti-recruiting rules are league-specific so while WAGS wouldn't permit this, it can't do any about non-WAGS teams (and had little teeth to enforce it with WAGS teams). In my opinion, it is bad form but I guess it is the new reality. Caution to everyone that 1) the grass may not be greener elsewhere and that 2) coaches/clubs/managers all tend to make a lot of promises.
Bonus caution: Past success is no guarantee of future results!
